Been a while since I’ve written anything on here. Being a Carer takes more than I can give some days. Like most of us lupies we do what we can do when we can do it.
I’ve been getting quite a significant numbness in one of my thighs. So intense sometimes that it feels as though the leg is going to give out.
I had a look at this online and only about handful of reasons one of which, was of course, lupus.
Wandered if anyone else had had similar issues.
Any input would be appreciated. Always seems to be more symptoms that come with this illness and sometimes it’s hard to know if it’s the lupus or not. After all the years I’ve been diagnosed with lupus I’m still not as clued in as I would like, it’s a minefield.
Thank you
My best wishes,

Hi Debbie! I do get loss of sensory beyond peripheral neuropathy. My PN doesn’t allow me to distinguish sharp and dull on hands and feet.
Sometimes I feel a hot strip go down my left leg with diminished sensation. I also have sensory changes on my face where I can feel hot water on one side but not the other. I’ve also had facial droop before which corrected with steroids. My B12 is normal/high but a deficiency can cause nerve problems so I’d ask to have B12 and thiamine checked.
I don’t know what is causing my nerve problems but I’m working to see a neurologist. My CPK is also elevated so my rheumatologist wants me to get an EMG to test if my muscle nerves are okay.
In short, there are many things that could cause sensory changes - lupus, demyelinating neuropathy, radiculopathy from disc herniation, other autoimmune disorders that effects nerves. Best person to evaluate this is a neurologist. I let it go for over a year now and it’s just getting worse and effects my balance. Time to ask for help.
Hope this is a little helpful/reassuring. Be well! ❤️
