I had a really bad fall 3 weeks ago. I have had really bad whiplash since then. I didn't go to AE because didn't want to be stuck there for hours when in so much pain. I could move all of my limbs so didn't think I had broken anything. But, I still have a duck egg size lump on my forehead where I hit the wall. How long before it goes down? Should I be concerned?
Thanks

Obviously you didn't do too much damage or you'd have mentioned other things - but you are a very naughty girl You could have damaged all sorts of things besides breaking bones and if you have bad whiplash that is storing up trouble - I speak from personal experience! And I DID see an orthopod - to get the insurance payout as it was an RTC!
However - after 3 weeks the presence of a big haematoma should be checked out. I want a report back. What else didn't you tell us??????
OK, i come clean, I have been bedbound since. Cannot wash, shower, getting to the loo is a real chore, but that is why I am posting now. I feel all that is getting better. At least I can now type, hence post. I was knocked out for a while and have had bad headaches, but they have gone now. Bruising to my face is fading so feel better for that. You are such a wily person but respect your advuce. Oh by the way, I tripped over my cat who was winding herself round my legs!!!
Sounds more like it - get thee to the doctor! A&E is a bit late now but you do need some x-rays and possibly a CT to rule out a bleed. LOC is a serious sign and had you called 999 you'd probably have jumped the queue as a trauma case. You are a numpty!!!!
Not really, she had her 2nd baby the day I fell. I am a little worried about the lump. I know whiplash can take forever to heal but it is doing my head in being flat on my back 24/7. I cant turn on my side to give relief. Also I am overdosing on Co-codamol because I am awake all night.
You should take medical advice..I had what was thought to be purely a whiplash injury from a car accident...turned out after a second MRI I had a broken neck that needed surgery.
Better a long wait in A&E than further spine damage....don’t you think?
I think you should see a doctor. Thank God for protocols, they are supposed to give you a CT of the head. Head injury is very serious, can lead to bleeding inside the skull or brain swelling. Only a doctor can decide the next steps. I do not want to worry you, but up to three weeks after the head injury you are still at risk.
I know we all go to the doctor far more than we can digest. All the time some white coat usually with bad news, I am sick of it too. But rationally speaking all the efforts done to cure Les and than it all comes down to a head injury? It's a pity.
😧 🤝Right by your side babs...feeling V concerned about you..GREAT ADVICE from PMRpro + AgedCrone + corinusha 👍👍👍👍👍....please let us know how things go ❤️🍀❤️🍀❤️🍀 Coco
Babs, I would be concerned. That’s a long time to have that much swelling. Are your pupils evenly dilated? No thought of a concussion? I would go have it checked out. Blows to the head are scary. The one good thing is the swelling is on the outside. A lot of times things will swell inward and you can’t see it, but that’s when things are most serious.
