Has she tried Garnier’s Mycellar Water for sensitive skin? It’s one of the less expensive in the Mycellar range...she could get 125ml bottle to try for under £2.

I also tried Mycellar water that cost £28 for 250ml, (a present I might add) and tbh it seemed exactly the same.

Hope it might help.

I use Epimax Cream - recommended by my dermatologist, can be used as a soap to cleanse (whole body if needed) and then as a facial or whole body moisturiser. Can be bought over the counter at a pharmacy and it’s not expensive (about £6 ish for a 500g bottle and last for ages). Available on prescription as well.

I can no longer use any facial products or make-up (not that I was ever big on that) and this works well for me. And it's only a cleanser and moisturiser - so not a medical ‘treatment’, as such (though often prescribed for psoriasis and dry skin conditions).

There are lots of options out there- this just happens to be what works for me 😉. And it’s probably better if your sister can get expert medical advice if skin lesions are present. So...

Just wondering if your sister has been referred to a dermatologist for her facial lesions? They would be able to offer specific advice about an appropriate skin treatment and care regime? Or perhaps her GP or rheumatologist can advise? Pharmacists are also very good at advising about meds and products for skincare.

Good luck. Hope your sister finds something that works for her and top marks for being so thoughtful and trying to help.

I would get the lesions on my neck. I used a great corticosteroid cream, but she may not want to use the same on her face, as it can thin the skin. But it has worked well for me.

When my face rashes, it quickly turns to what I call ‘facial dandruff’. Gross, I know, but the skin flakes so badly it’s like it’s snowing! (Ick). Anyway, I use a couple different facial cleansers that idk if they will help her. But one is the brand Paula’s Choice. It’s their ‘Resist Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser’. I use about 8(?) of her skin care products daily. I discovered Paula’s Choice when hired to do an infomercial for the company. I love her products!

The other one I use daily is from the company Image Skincare. I use their The Max (plant) stem cell facial cleanser. I discovered it during a facial for a spa day with my daughter and daughter in laws last year while having an H2O facial. Fell in love with it too. Both products are bought online.

I wish your sister well. She’s blessed to have such a thoughtful, caring sister as you. I think my face has done so much better with both these products. I know the hydroxychloroquine has helped with calming the rashes down altogether (or seems so).

All my best.

Hi, I see you have had a few replies but it is best if your sister saw a dermatologist to advise on the most suitable cleanser for her skin. While she waits for an appointment with the dermatologist meanwhile, she could visit GP for advice.

I have discoid lupus and get skin lesions. I’m using la Roche posay toleriane cleanser. It’s not the cheapest but it’s suits me so prepared to pay to make me more comfortable. It can be found in Boots or online with lookfantadtic.com or allbeauty.com. Prices may also vary so worth comparing. Hopefully she will see a dermatologist. Spf 50 daily is also essential to prevent lesions x

African black soap is amazing 😉 try and buy the most organic one you can find. Amazon have some great ones

The only products I can use for my skin are

SK11 or kanebo which you can only get at Harrods or on eBay. I use factor 65 from

America or factor 90 from Korea. Have the rheumatology dept look at other auto immune diseases causing the sensitivity. I am trying to find out if I have lupus, scleroderma or Sjögrens as I have almost all of the symptoms of all 3. My skin is super sensitive and have noticed certain foods, drinks or medicines make my skin worse or if I don’t wear total sunblock even indoors. Try doing a food and skin diary and you will see what the triggers are. Drink 2-3 litres of bottled water and you will see a difference. Let us know if it helps.

Hi - as you can see there are so many choices because we are all different, so it is a matter of trying products to see what works for your sister. I too have Discoid Lupus. Moo Goo are very good. I have settled for Nivea products. I also use their exfoliating wipes as this does help the skin - 3 times a week. I found warty lumps were appearing all over my body and after trying lots of things I looked on google and put tiny pieces of Duck Tape overnight on my legs - they slowly disappeared. They worked on my cheeks too. Request a Dermatology appointment ! Good luck

Hi Marielena,

Following a head to toe Lupus rash I had 6 years ago a retired ward sister recommended I use Aqueous Cream. I told my GP and she prescribed it for me, but I have seen it in pharmacies for only 99p for a huge tub. It can be used in place of soap and is a great moisturiser. 👍🏻👍🏻 I use it as my regular moisturiser on my face as well as my body and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft.😁 Hope it helps your sister. 🤗
