Critical illness insurance
Have many of you needed to claim and give up work ?? I’m newly diagnosed and fightened the future
Hi Harry, yes I did. I have Critical Injury Insurance and there was a clause if you can no longer work then you get the payout. Mine was used to pay off my mortgage. My Rheumatologist and GP had to write a report. Good luck
I can see it’s in my policy . Can you claim and still work do you think ?
They told me no. To be honest I was so unwell I did not even think of claiming until they raised my contributions and I could no longer afford the policy after paying it for 25 years as I was on benefits. When I rang to cancel they asked me how long had I been off work and I told then five years. I was advised to pay the new instalments until I was given the decision. Both my Rheumatologist at the time and my GP felt that I could no longer work and I was paid out in about six weeks. I wish you luck. It really does make such a difference
I have some sort of critical illness attached to my employment contract. I didn't even realise I had it initially. I was never ill in earlier times and had not been aware it was in my employment package.
I have been paid from it for a while now. It pays a portion of my last salary.
I don't think all policies are the same and you would need to check exactly what is contained within yours.
If you are in a union the legal team can be useful at times like this.
I think if I go back to work the policy stops paying, but you will need to check what clauses are contained within yours.
