Hi, i wondered if anyone has queried whether their prescription medication has caused their symptoms? Ive been taking Cipralex (Escitalopram) for quite a few years and im beginning to wonder if it is to blame in some way.

Yes I think all the drugs I've taken for RA/UCTD may have left lasting legacies as all are down on my notes as having caused allergic reactions. I have urology issues now/ abdominal issues now and suspect my short but dramatic time on Azathioprine might have caused these - a biliary effect. It's a balancing act always and if you are hyper allergic as I am, taking any drug becomes a potential nightmare. Hard to know whether symptoms relate to medications, bugs or the disease itself always.

Hi Kate,

Are you talking about medication induced Lupus? Certain medications can cause Lupus such as Minocycline and anti TNF's but it's very rare.

Im pretty certain the day I got a hep b vaccine I got lupus. ive been sick on the couch since that day I had the vaccine, and that was 25 years ago. for 20 years I have had all positive lupus tests and my situation progresses as time goes by. im a firm believer that there can be triggers. I don't know about the medications you are on, but I do believe that our bodies do have trigger points for autoimmune dysfunctions.

Hi Marie,

I posted a reply yesterday but it seems to have disappeared. Im sorry youve been ill for so long. Im trying to work out what my triggers could have been but im going round in circles. I had a few vaccines before going travelling 20 years ago and anti malarial pills. Hmmm.

Take care

Kate
