Something that has been bothering me for the last week or so I cannot seem to get my head straight 🤦🏼♀️🤷♀️🥴
I’ve put my deodorant on twice I stood at the wrong school gate for my daughter and didn’t notice and I’ve gone to say things and my speech is slightly slurs or I can’t find the correct word.
I forget everything school meetings assembly’s to pay for dinners this is not knew but I do do a lot less these days so I thought I’d have more space to remember things you know since mums gone.
I understand it could be anxiety but it seems to be worse the last few weeks.
My lesions are in the correct part of the brain for early onset dementia 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤷♀️ and I know it’s a long shot but there is a lot of it in my family.
As I’m writing this I feel stupid but I just wanted to ask your opinion if I should be concerned or not xx

You ARE concerned, that is obvious or you wouldn't be asking. And it is understandable, it is scary enough for us oldies when we notice something like that - you are young. Speak to your doctor about it and be honest and clear - write down all you want to say in advance so you can't forget because you will be anxious about the appointment and that makes it all worse as you are aware.
It could be medication - it could be something else. But worrying in silence won't make it any better and probably make it worse. There are things that can be done and techniques to get round the problems it creates. But you need help to sort it out.
I made my sons weetabix with coffee one morning 🤦♀️
I now have phone reminders for everything!!!!
I think it’s a combination of brain fog , fatigue and general worrying.
You need to stop focusing on the brain matter. If it was significant your neurologist would have done something about it by now.
I doubt you have dementia they would have recognised this by now.
Your brain is working triple overtime. Google the worry tree. I use this loads now in my life because with worry you get the knock on affect of anxiety.
I kind of brush my forgetfulness off with a Simpson’s “DOH” moment. The more we acknowledge these symptoms the more aware we become of them.
Your a busy mum too on top of everything else going on in your life so it’s ok to forget things sometimes
🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I knew you would comment 😂 I see your Name pop up and 😣😣 she going to kill me 😂🙏 I know your right I think my anxiety is very high at the minute xxx
Hi Lovely Lady. I totally agree with LisaLou. You have an awful lot going on in your life just now - please take time out to be kind and gentle to yourself AND try to stop worrying (easy said, I know). Let it go, let it go, let it gooooo (wish I could sing, but this is the best version of Frozen I can manage). A good friend sang this to me recently and it made sense - and made me laugh. Hope it makes you laugh too! xxx
Since I retired 18 months ago I have noticed I am doing similar things frequently. I thought the brain fog was connected to meds (hydroxy) but I have been off that for nearly a year and it hasn’t improved. I thought it was getting worse but the logical bit of my brain is telling me I just have more time on my hands and notice it more. My physical symptoms are significantly worse (joint pain/swelling, sicca and too many more to mention) and I feel that is a combination of noticing more and having no meds.
Speak with your doctor and I hope you get some answers and reassurance.
When I am over-tired or not doing well, I have just those kinds of symptoms. They are alarming to me, and friends remark on them. I was part of a lupus and cognition study a few years ago and had several tests. It seemed the cognitive problems were related to lupus. I was told they would not go away, but there was no sign of dementia, and they would not progress unless I was stressed. I find the symptoms wax and wane. It's certainly not much worse, even though I have had some stressful times. I hope this is a little reassuring -- it would be reasonable to think this is from your illness. A neurological exam might shed more light. Mainly, try to take care of yourself and make sure to take time for pleasures even if the laundry doesn't get done. It's very, very hard to be sick when raising children. My daughter was often disappointed by things I could not do, and sometimes resentful, but she grew up to be a compassionate, lovely person.
There is help for what you are experiencing. Can you ask your neuro about speech pathology? My stroke infarcts are in the frontal lobe so I qualified for cognitive therapy and it has helped me so much. They also helped me learn habits and tips to prevent forgetting big stuff like leaving the burners on or forgetting appointments.
Exercise and proper sleep are also key to helping me over all. I fall back in progress when I am over tired for sure. My stroke paralysis returns also if I am sleep deprived the brain functions much better when well rested and supplied with oxygen it seems.
I agree with others. Check with a doctor, so you at least know whether it’s stress/anxiety or something else.
I must say, before I became ill, and when I was working long hours to deadlines, plus had a couple of teens to keep me on my toes, I had a huge amount of absent minded stuff. Standing at a cash machine with not a clue what my PIN number was was bad.
I also have periods of brain fog now.
I hope you get some answers xx
I agree with above comments I've recently gone through the same thing couple of months back even had mri scan everything normal. I was told to up my amitriptyline but 10mg every week until I wasn't in pain. So now I'm on 85mg a day see how long tht lasts can go up to 100mg!! Before they look into doing anything else. Hope you get it sorted soon and try not to dwell on it...easier said than done...Take one day at a time don't think about what's happening down the line the less pressure on your brain the better you'll free...try doing yoga simple breathing exercises help a lot clears the head. Get well soon. 🙂
I’m across the pond. Here if there is a strong family history of dementia disease and patients are having memory problems patients are put on memory meds to slow down the progression. My mom took these for years and her Alzheimer’s didn’t become active until years later. It helped her tremendously. Maybe you could try the meds to see if it helps you too. You can always quit if it doesn’t and that would answer whether it’s anxiety related or not.
Take care. Best wishes. Abundant blessings sweetie.
I agree with PMRpro..write down everything that is worrying you...& check with your doctor.
The symptoms you describe sound similar to those I had from drugs .....that was a long time ago & as soon as I came off the drug all my little inconsistencies disappeared.
