Hi, has anyone had symptoms of muscle pain and weakness in arms and legs? I've had a few mild episodes since December last year but yesterday things escalated and I'm in quite a lot of discomfort.
It started with not feeling my legs properly and weakness going up and down the stairs, my arms were also affected but not as bad. As the day wore on my whole body started to ache and the muscles between my shoulders were also hurting.
This morning and all today I feel like I've run a marathon or been to the gym. My leg (thigh) muscles are particularly painful and walking is uncomfortable and still weak although not as weak as yesterday.
Any help and advice appreciated, should I see GP or wait and see if it settles?
I had the same a few days ago, quite randomly, and when I woke up in the morning it was like my legs were so heavy that they wouldn't move - it was really weird! But it got gradually OK again over a few days, without doing anything in particular - I hope it is the same for you too.
Hi thanks, yes I've had the heavy leg sensation a few times (along with other leg symptoms in a previous post), it's very strange but always wears off eventually. I was wondering if it might be fibromyalgia?
Hi KayHimm thanks, I will make appointment to see GP. I have mentioned it to my Rheumatologist twice but they have not offered testing.
I've also had an episode where I had the kettle in my hand and dropped it because of sudden weakness in my arm and sometimes it hurts to hold a hairdryer up to dry my hair but these symptoms come and go?
Did you mention to your rheumatologist that you have trouble holding a hairdryer? Good to see GP. They can assess or contact your rheumatologist if necessary.
I get weakness in my arms and legs. I haven’t been able to use an hairdryer and brush properly for years. I find it easier to use a hot air roller brush to dry my hair, I can use one arm and keep swopping the roller brush between alternate arms. The rheumatologist thinks I have a problem with my tendons. I also have fibromyalgia so never quite sure what causes it.
I was diagnosed a long time ago by a pain consultant. At the time I was diagnosed with non articular rheumatism and myofascial pain syndrome which over the years was changed to fibromyalgia. He gave me zopiclone to help sleep, capsicum cream and medication for pain.
I get this. Sometimes I can’t stabilise my legs nor use my upper arms to grate cheese/slice bread. My legs often feel like mush but it’s all linked to flares in my case. My respiratory muscles also suffer
I think I might be in a flare also. I was out with my family last Friday and the weather was very hot. Despite all the right precautions I started to feel unwell with over heating and we had to come home. I've felt unwell since then. Maybe that's it.
I do get what I call juddery breathing in sometimes, like I can't catch my breath which happens when I'm fatigued.
Hi sorry your feelingso sore, I've had the same problems for along time now I normally see my gp and get diazepam to help me with it till it passes. Hope you get some help with this sending hugs.
Yes it is horrible but you will get to no your body and will feel when you have a flare coming on so you will no to rest, school holidays are the hardest part of it as it's so hard to keep kids happy I'm so sick of my youngest child saying that I don't play with him and I done like him because I don't like him cuddled up on me because it hurts so much, this illness just makes life so hard.
When I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia ( 10 years ago), I did not believe my doctor. the thought of a lifetime illness of pain was scary! I was given every blood test under the sun, full body work up from muscle tests to colonoscopy to scans plus meeting with psychiatrist and psychologist. Once it all pointed that I was healthy overall but had Fibromyalgia the journey began. I felt this method was a very precise way to rule out everything else. Focus on the positive and never ever give up! Best of Luck to You.!! Happy to visit with you anytime about it!
