I've recently been for a check up with my Rhuemy and was advised plasmaquine is no longer in stock in South Africa, along with its generic. Apparently the Medical Council now needs to apply to obtain a drug which is illegal in the country.
Just wanted to find out from anyone in SA who is on a repeat of plasmaquine, what you are now doing for SLE meds.
Blessings to you all.

My understanding is that Plasmaquine is not recommended and is being phased out in many locations because of its toxicity and availability of other less toxic similar drugs.
There are many other similar and less toxic drugs that can be used, such as hydroxychloriquine (Plaquenil) which is used extensively in the U.S. for lupus, so you should ask your doctor for one of the other similar drugs used in your country.
