While i read everywhere that Plaquenil is safe during pregnancy, i wonder if anyone knows if there has been any long term follow up of children born to mothers taking Plaquenil during pregnancy? Or are there members with grown up children, that had taken Plaquenil during their pregnancies?
Thanks!

This information is outdated and contradictory to the advice given by specialists. Hydroxychloroquine has been shown to be safe for the mother and child in many studies and in fact it can help to improve pregnancy outcomes if the mother has lupus and wasn't already taking it. It is also considered safe for breastfeeding.
There have been some long-term studies following children born to mothers who were taking hydroxychloroquine.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/146... - This study followed up to 108 months and no visual, hearing, growth, or developmental abnormalities were reported in any of the children at the last follow-up.
They will come in time. Part of the reason we may not have these yet is that it is 'relatively' recently that they approved using this treatment through pregnancy and breastfeeding and so it will take time to collect the data.
