I’ve had a painful right knee for several months, and was referred for an MRI scan prior to any possible lupus diagnosis - since then the other knee has also become painful to the extent I’m now walking with crutches.!
I have an MRI appointment now - just wondered if anyone could advise on whether this will help with diagnosing lupus?
Thanks in advance

Coming from a orthopedic and neurological point of view I can’t see how this would point to lupus. However, a lot of us start with symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, also an autoimmune. My severe pain started in my hips. There is a good reason to get the information. Pieces of the puzzle we are! Best of luck to you and hope you feel better soon.
It depends on what your blood shows inadidition to scans. Knee pain is very common in the healthy population and often when one knee is hurt we begin to favor the other side thereby creating damage on what was orginally the better knee. Do you test positive for antibodies, dANA, ANA any organ involvement such as lung or kidneys, any rash. You need many of these things before a diagnosis is issued. Hope your knee improves quickly! Xo
Thanks for your replies. Realised my post above only tells half the story really - apologies. I was diagnosed with Jessners infiltrate about 8 years ago which has been managed successfully until recently with hydroxychoriquine - now have rash, headache, joint aches and fatigue. You’re right about awaiting blood test results which should be back next week. Thanks again for your replies
