Barnclown gave me the name Barefoot Gardener, due to the fact I have had to go barefoot 100% of the time for 2 plus years due to Lupus skin issues. Yes, in winter, summer, spring, & fall.
so I though I would post a photo of the flowers we have blooming here at our house. These are daffodils and they are the first flowers to bloom. When we see these we know spring is close!
I hope this photo will put a smile on someone’s face, maybe make them forget about their pain and troubles, even if for only a few fleeting seconds.

That's so lovely Tiras. I love watching the first shoots of spring, that's what I have been doing all week...Looking in people's front gardens. Yes, your post brought a smile to my face to kick start the weekend. Have a good one.
Thank you Tiras. We’ve had an unusually mild February which has even brought some trees into blossom, but I’ve yet to see a daffodil. Lovely photo. Thank you x
You are welcome, yes our temperature here in Alabama in the Deep South of the U.S.A. Have been mild thus far. However, forecast calls for us to be around 19 degrees Fahrenheit Monday night!
Thank you! Yes, they are coming out, however, our temperature is to do back down to 19 degrees Fahrenheit Monday night. We still have some cold weather to go through. The daffodils tell us spring is close!😊♥️
We have had snow twice this week where I live so these are such a welcome reminder that spring is really on the way 😀! I’m ready for the change in season. Prayers for the ability for shiny shoes for spring for you!
The daffodils did put a smile on my face and when I saw that were from Alabama, I knew it was the red soil that made them so pretty. I visited my grandparents’ farm in Alabama often and know the beauty of the hills as well as the sweetness of the peaches. I hope your garden continues to bring you joy. And hoping for better health for you. K
My grandparents lived near Hayden, about forty-five minutes from Birmingham. Is that close to you? I live in New York City where my natures walks are to Central Park. 🌼🌿🐾
Well, it’s not extremely far, Hayden is probably 80 miles from me? I live on the East Central side of Alabama on lake Wedowee. I am 20 miles from the Georgia State line. Look at a map, follow interstate 20 east to hwy 431 go south to Wedowee. Our town is so small, we actually do not have any traffic lights!
I love it out in the country like this. I can have the boat in the water fishing in less than 15 minuets! I don’t live right on the lake, I’m a few miles away.
Sounds wonderful! My grandfather felt the same way, I am sure. Just put him out on his pond to fish, and he was content. I just loved to eat what he caught — fried, of course, with okra and all the other fresh vegetables.
Oh, yes absolutely, fried fish is great! We do grow a lot of our vegetables, I use to love to hunt, but, unfortunately now with medical issues I can’t get up and down these Rolling hills. ( I would be the one rolling 😂). However my sons and brother in law does. We put fresh deer in the freezer every year. I put over 160 pound of ground deer in the freezer this year, not counting steaks, roast, etc. I put fish in the freezer out of the lake. we have 18 Chickens so, we never buy eggs. We try to eat as natural as
Don’t get me wrong, I will not pass up steak and lobster from a restaurant, I’m not totally off the grid😂
It is currently snowing here in Northeast Massachusetts (for the second time this week!) so seeing green grass, pretty flowers and you at peace amongst it all most certainly puts a smile on my face! Please send some Spring our way!
Great photo! We live in Wales and the daffodil is the nations flower. We have planted a lot in our garden over the years and they are out now too. They look glorious and like you say a sign that winter is behind us and spring is on the way, although our seasons aren’t as predictable as they used to be and I’m sure we’ll see a few more cold spells yet. Wendy x
I understand! Saturday it was almost 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Today the high was 39 degrees Fahrenheit. It is forecast for us to be at 19 in the morning! Feels extremely cold here! I am in Alabama, in the Deep South of the U.S.A.
