Naz don't hurt yourself, please. you are a beautiful person and even if you can't see it others can. by hurting yourself you are hurting your loved ones who must feel bad that they can't make you well. you are not alone, all of us here are sending you positive thoughts and understand everything you feel.

Do you know how much weight you have actually put on? have you had to buy bigger clothes? I was 10stone this time last year, then at Christmas I was put on a blood pressure tablet and I have gained almost exactly 1lb per week ever since so I am now 13 stone. :( I have to buy bigger jeans every few months. what really gets to me is all my doctors say I now look healthy but according to NHS guidelines I am borderline obese and have an increased risk of diabetes. when I was on steroids I went over 20 stone, don't know how much over because the scales stopped at 20. for some reason doctors don't seem to be concerned that the drugs they give us are making us ill after all what is the point of taking steroids if you end up having a stroke or diabetes? like I said before most of us have had this sort of problem at some time, none of us want to be ill we just have to find a way to deal with it. maybe we need to tell doctors more of our worries, my doctors are all skinny men [mostly] and they just don't understand our weight problems. we need to explain to them our need to slim down, maybe your doctor can help.

that doctor was out of order, they should never make a comment like that. my cheeks really hurt when they swelled up with steroids, seemed to squeeze my nose. my feet also swelled up and I couldn't wear shoes or socks. I wish I had only gained 3kg it doesn't seem much compared with the 7 plus stone [about 45kg I think] I put on with those horrible steroids but it isn't just the weight I found it painful too because my skin felt stretched and sore. I didn't know it affected your sugar levels [not helpful with diabetes] perhaps that is a reason for the weight gain, maybe it increases the calorie intake. hugs to you XX

It must make trying to diet very difficult with the diabetes. I don't know much about it but if you have to stick to a certain intake of food I guess any changes are going to affect you. I sometimes wonder about our other medications and how many hidden calories are in them. my blood pressure tablets make me put on weight, about 500g a week and my renal doc just says how healthy I now look, the weight gain is enough to put me at increased risk of diabetes and I am borderline obese according to NHS guidelines. I don't want to add diabetes to my list of health problems. XX

Stay strong you won't always be on such high dose steroids i was on 40mg at first now I manage on just 5mg and my disease is now well controlled the mycophenalate should help reduce the need for high dose steroids it just takes time , you will improve and feel better about it all , take care and keep talking to people on here you will find this site is full of people who have gone through what you are going through now x
