So was in hospital last week with chest and sinus infection which caused a flare. Discharged on Friday and Tuesday I decide to back to work... I slipped on ice as I was getting to my car and drove to work it was an hour later swelling and pain kicked in so went to A&E got xrays which showed fractured elbow 😢
Pain is agonising. Just want to know anyone with lupus fractured anything before did you recover ok?
Thank you

i’ve only fractured a big toe & a metacarpal (hand bone), but both fractures made my lupus flare: i guessed due to the shock + stress + strain. the fracture clinic consultants said: these “bits” would never be the same again....i said: of course they won’t 🙄
I needed plenty of recovery time for these fractures to heal & their inflammation to go down, but both “bits” are now relatively functional, although sore at times - especially when i make the wrong sort of moves. But i was in my 60s when these fractures happened, and my AID was very early onset....and i was adequately medicated (and wasn’t already flaring at the time) when the fractures occurred.
Take care of yourself...i feel you’re extra vulnerable because you were flaring & fighting infection when your fracture happened...if i were in your situation i’d check with my GP & specialist lupus nurse for advice re managing the lupus aspect of this
