Hi lyonness ,

Welcome to the LUPUS UK Community Forum. I'm sorry that you haven't received any responses to your post yet, but please do post any specific questions you have as this is a wonderful community and I'm sure you will receive lots of helpful information and support.

If you would like more information about lupus and the kidneys, we have a booklet which you can read/download on our website at lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u... (we also have physical copies that we can post to you if you send me a private message or email paul@lupusuk.org.uk with your name and address).

Are you currently taking any medication prescribed by your doctor?

If there are any bits of information that you particularly need help in understanding, please let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Hi lyonness and welcome! I too, have modified my diet and make sure I take regular exercise to improve my well-being with my diagnosis of UCTD and borderline stage 3 CKD. I keep an eye on potassium/magnesium/sodium intake to reduce unnecessary strain on the kidneys and regularly drink nettle tea which is a natural detoxifier and diuretic. Nettle tea is also an anti-inflammatory which could help with other Lupus symptoms. I also put Epsom Salts in my bath once a week and have a good long soak to help with detox and general aches and pains. The skin is sometimes referred to as “the third kidney” and Epsom Salts aids the kidneys as it helps to draw out the toxins from your body. Remember to have a long refreshing drink afterwards! Perhaps consult your GP first before using Epsom Salts. I find CBD oil helps with sleep and general pain relief; it also helps to lighten my overall demeanour as I can sometimes get a bit down at times with ongoing health issues. Nothing like a bit of fresh air and exercise to help with that too. Good luck with your health journey, you will find lots of very well informed and friendly people on this site who can help with any questions or worries you may have x
