Hey honeybug, I like the straight-talking of US medics! π€ͺI'm going to put it to my GP that he's the one who needs his head seeing to the next time I see him, because I have a long, long list in my notes - over eight years pre-diagnosis - of very tangible symptoms....not least a deformed nose! 'It's as plain as the nose on my face, doctor!' π
Very interesting read, I'm sure if my GPs got together and discussed this I would surely be the one to get the first diagnosis of this at our surgery, I can hear it now. Even more worrying is the fact that I can actually understand this as a diagnosis, it makes sense to me, I'm stressed, I'm in a loveless marriage, I have previously had breast cancer, I am certain I have some as yet undiagnosed disease or illness and won't give up pestering my GP for referrals until I get the diagnosis of such an illness, be it autoimmune or other related to my many and varied symptoms which I really do have.
There was an interview on BBC Breakfast this morning with the doctor running the clinical trial featuring on tonight's Horizon - placebo and how the brain responds to pain. Should be an interesting watch!
This humongous thread has many thoughts on the organic-'somatic' link:
