Extreme eye inflamation. Surgery put me on infected eye drops. Swelling got extreme, went to eye hospital. They told me to stop infected eye drops, put me on eye lubricant and steriod cream for under the eyes. Said no problem with eyes, but another underlying medical condition. Waiting to see doctor tomorrow. Any ideas what causing inflamation and blistering eye area?

I get this continually but blisters also affect the skin on my eyes too. They flare up every 2/3/4 weeks. I have been in steroid eye drops since last August and oral steroids each time it flares up. Ophthalmologist has never seen it before and they are at a loss on how to stop it. I ll try to attach a photo

Just back from doctor. So frustrating, she knows nothing about discoid lupus which is what the symptoms are exactly. The cream the eye hospital gave me was the one to treat skin problems with discoid lupus. The doctor didn't want to refer me to rheumatologist - has referred me to a dermatologist instea and has ordered blood tests. .

I have Behcets disease. They keep saying it is an infection even though all swobs for viral and bacteria come back negative. I have lost most of my sight, but still no one can confirm if this is the Behcets or something else. I also have scleritis which causes inflammation in front and back of eye.

This morning much better. Am self managing. Spoke to my aunt who is a retired consultant. Have done exactly what she advised. Cleaned eye carefully with warm water and cotton wool. Done cold compresses. Applied vitamin E oil on eyelids (v dry and blistering). This morning less sore, swelling reduced, blistering better. Will keep up.

Hi Vrin

Can I ask if you Were you diagnosed with conjunctivitis?

Last 2 years the surgery kept on saying was conjunctivitis - with the eye hospital checking everything last week and saying I had no eye infection and that the swelling/blisters outside was eyes was due to a different underlying medical reason makes me question whether the infected eye drops the surgery had been giving me for the last two years was wrong!
