Don't use the 'Q' word

The last time (in fact the first time) I wrote was to get an idea of whether to return to work. That day I did some work from home then popped in, driven by dear wife, to see a colleague and meet our new 'big boss'.

The meeting went well, the boss was great and told me to take time off and not to worry or feel guilty about returning. My manager, the big boss and my colleague have been pushing he building owner for permission to make changes to lighting as well as referring to Occy Health and HR to ensure that I'm registered as having a disability. By doing this it should stave off any disciplinary issues associated with time off.

One thing that I should know by now is not to tempt fate. It seems that saying that I would like to return to work is the equivalent of using the 'Q' word, quiet, when working in a healthcare or Police setting, once it's out there your in trouble. Fate listens and reminds you that it's there.

I have now been signed off work for while as I'm not allowed to work alone and I just can't get in. Time to relax I thought. Cue one big old migraine complete with nausea. This last week as been grim. Headaches, occipital neuralgia, fatigue and feeling really useless, it's still not lifted yet and not responding to painkillers.

On the positive side though I have received appointments from Neurology to look at the seizure episode and Rheumatology, both within the next six weeks.

Good afternoon Jim, well as one of the peeps who advised you against going into work in your other thread, boy am I glad that I did. I am so sorry you have been hit by the myriad of illness you have, migraines particularly, I have occipital migraines and suffer Cluster Headaches which are beyond vile. I hope as the day goes on your migraines lift.

On the positive, your work sound as though they are being very fair, that is good news, and even more good news you have appointment in the next 6 weeks, from which I hope you are given diagnosis, plan and reassurance.

So for now, and I do understand given your past work disciplines, relax and take it easy words might right royally hack you off, I get that, I was a grumpy ole moo when I got that said to me, but very quickly realised I had to find a new normal, and know my limitations, I was medically retired in the end, it was the right decision.

I really hope you can find a way to rest your body for awhile, I would be working on being rested much as I could, in preparation for the medical merry go around ahead.

Best wishes Jim.

I can appreciate your situation. I always said if you stop you do just that and I did. My own business of 17 yrs went in a blink of an eye. I couldn't do anything about it. This was over a year a go. I'm working on acceptance. I'm also on the diagnosis merry-go-round. Waiting....

Today is a pretty tough day. I hope yours is GOOD!

Be as well as you can and retrain your brain!

Good Luck!!! We are here for you 🌻🌻🌻
