Hi all, hope you are having a healthy weekend. I have woken up this morning to find a big lump on the bottom of my lip, it wasn't sore but when I started poking at it, some pus came out and then it started to bleed.
Has anyone ever had this happen ? I have SLE and have never had this occur before, only lesions inside of my mouth. I am wondering what it could be ?
Thanks for your help

Hi. Are you on methatrexate if so I would contact rumi and see what they say and definitely go to the gp but let them know the Meds you are on hope it clears soon
Hi Ianrussell69 thank you for your reply. Not been on the meds for too long, since August. 'm on hydroxy. I will let the GP know if it doesn't clear, although I do find they are a little at a loss with lupus. We shall see. Cheers
Yes, unfortunately I have had this type of symptom. I used to get cold sores on my lips and nose. (But I've never had sores inside my mouth.) However since Lupus rearing its head /?diagnosis, these are different. I wouldn't say they are cold sores now. But on one occasion in particular I ended with up both lips covered in pussy sore. Took a while to heal and looked terrible. These weird and wonderful symptoms change all the time. I would say mine happen when I'm flaring / run down. Are you in a flare right now?
Hi Wendy. Thanks for letting me know your experience with the sores. As you say, there always seems to be things popping up lupus related. I am still learning and not yet linked all my symptoms to lupus yet. Good (but not at the same time) to know its not just me having these sores. I think I may be in a flare as my malar rash has made a special appearance. How is the Lupus Group going by the way, in full force I hope
Ah lovely of you to remember. We had a meeting on Saturday and there were 7 of us, including 2 new ones. But 16 in total, just not managed to get us all together at the same time. I'm really pleased with the way it's working out. They are a lovely bunch of people. Hope your lupie sores clear up soon.
Hi Wendy. I suspect the time of year (everybody getting ready for Christmas) will be the cause ? I can't believe how many people in one area have Lupus. I Hope you're feeling better this week
I think there are a lot more of us with auto-immune and lupus issues out there than we think. The population of Pembrokeshire is about 124,000. I think there are probably more out there too. Just very difficult to get word out about my group as we are over such a large geographical area. I visited over 20 doctors surgeries handing out books and posters.
I hope your malar rash and lips sores have settled down?
Hi Wendy. I am amazed at that figure ! You are a real trooper going to all those surgeries. The lips sores are on their way out, malar rash always there but hey ho, thats nothing compared to what some of the people on this site go through. Thanks for asking. Hope you feeling as well as can be, our symptoms seems to worsen with the weather
Have you spoken to your GP or rheumatologist about this?
Oral (mouth) and nasal (nose) ulcers are one of the most common features of lupus occurring in around 45% of people who have SLE. We published a blog article about coping with oral and nasal uclers which you can read here: lupusuk.org.uk/coping-with-...
