Hi all,
Yesterday I had a CT contrast scan booked in for 8.30am.
When I got there I handed in my questionnaire & was given a 1 Litre bottle of water contrast to drink within the hour.
I was feeling nauseous, I was given the cannula ready for contrast dye.
But when I walked into the CT scan room & sat on the table, a consultant was on hand to ask some questions about my previous CT of the chest. I reported feeling extremely sick, itchy, I had hives, flushed feeling. & wheezy.
Then between 12pm & 2am I got much worse & ended up having a suspected TIA. I was asked about my asthma this time I wasn't asked last time.
So I didn't have the contrast yesterday as it wasn't worth the risk.
So I had to drink 1 litre of water/contrast which was ok. I haven't drank that much in a very long time which did make me feel even more nauseous.
I was also asked what specialist I was seeing and I said a private GI, & my results will be available at the end of this week???!
Despite not having a dye I still feel warn out. Apparently they give you quite a lot of radiation for a pelvic & abdomen scan. So the exposure is greater.
Come to think of it, I never realised that having so many CT scans can cause health risks...
Something to consider asking my GP..
Hopefully the results will show some missing pieces to my puzzle....
