MisterE,

I’m suffering with shoulder pain at the moment, I have torn my rotator cuff, very painful and I am having Physio for it, it is very easy to damage and you may have torn yours with the press-ups, get it checked out.

The Physio exercises are making a lot of difference.

Hope this helps.

Yeah. Just went in. Rheumatologist said stop doing them as well. The problem is one day I can do it and the next I can’t. It’s annoying

These diseases are bad, I have Myositis/ Scleroderma and so much I can’t do, I had a very bad fall, but was lucky no bones were broken.

You’ll have to do some other exercises!

When I was started on my lupus meds, I checked this out with my rheumy. "Will I be able to do push-ups once I've been on these meds, doctor?" I asked. "Yes, of course, " he said. "That's great, cos I've never been able to do them before" I said. :)

I do get shoulder pain, but it's a part of the low back pain I get - which of course is worse now due to my loss of mobility. Hope yours is nothing more than that. x

Hi MisterE,

Have you spoken to your doctor about this?

Speaking to your doctor can allow him/her to provide you with the correct pain management system.

We published a blog article on ‘pain management’ which you may like to read here: lupusuk.org.uk/pain-managem...

I have. He said stop doing push-ups. He didn’t mention any pain management. I am in the United States. I like this site though. It helps to talk.

It is advised to speak to your doctor, as this will enable him/her to provide you with the correct pain management treatment such as oral, topical or a referral to a physiotherapist, if required.

I find it Interesting that the UK has so many things to offer their patients. I’ve been reading about medications on this site that I’ve never heard of Until now. Everyone’s doctor seems to be in touch with them and the GPs seem to be In touch with the rheumatologist all the times. That does not happen in the United States

Hi, i have systemic lupus, and I have had shoulder, neck pain for the past 5 years. Unless injury, it seems part of the illness. Hope you find a way to manage the pain. I use natural oils and higher dose of ibuprofen for inflamation.

Thanks! Yes. It is annoying

I have terrible shoulder pain and I struggle sometimes to lift my arm above my head. I recently had an acupuncture treatment which has made a huge difference. It consisted of needles, cupping and massage. It really helped.
