Vitamin D deficiency

Hi! I have visited another doctor to consult about my condition. Actually I don't really have a "serious" symptomps. The problem that bothers me the most is hairloss, and sometimes I got very tired and headache, also burning head or scalp. He suggested me to have vitamin D tested. I also checked for allergic. The result is I got 17 ng/mL, which the standard should be 30-100. I take vitamin D about 2000 IU/day now. I want to know if you have vit D deficiency and your experience about it. I also read that vit D also good for hair and skin, and it is a prohormone that linked to autoimmune. I hope this could be solution for my hairloss.

My husband had very low vitamin D, before it was treated, he was in a terrible state. His joints started to seize up in his legs. He could hardly get out of Bed the am, and his ankle bone started to deteriorate. He was constantly tired, and it affected him mentally. Loads of blood tests, nothing showed , until I googled various symptoms and suggested he asked Dr for vit D test. It took about 9 months for him to get better FYI, but now he is fine again, which should give you hope. Ironically one of the easier things to resolve.

Hope they are monitoring your levels after you've been taking the vit D for a couple of months or so?

When my blood tests showed very low Vit D my GP prescribed a very large dose of VitD. I can't remember how much, but it involved chewing what felt like lumps of chalk - about a dozen in all - within a number of hours, then I supplement since then. The deficiency isn't suprising as I avoid the sun.

I've had my VitD checked since then, and it's adequate. I really don't know which symptoms were a result of the deficiency at the time. I had a lot of aching joints, but there were more reasons for them than just the deficiency.

It's probably worth being checked again to see if your levels are better.

Sometimes if Im stressed out I feel so tired and like having joint pains but it is rare for me. I knew if vit d connects with our bones but i never knew before if it is also linked to autoimmune and stress.

I've been taking vit d but in a very minimal dose which is about 133 iu and i didnt think it helps. Then for the past 1 week I take 2000iu from supplement. How much did ur husband take? Yes actually it is an easy answer if we know that we are deficiency, because I didnt know if I could have vit deficiency.

I was extremely vitamin D deficient last year and took vitamin D3 drops/oil and got back to normal readings after three months. I don't go in the sun much but eat D rich foods but guess if you have a major deficiency that doesn't prevent it. I'm to continue taking it and have a blood test every six months.

How much do you take? Yes i dont think food will help if we are deficiency. Since Im very sensitive with the sun too so it makes sense if my problem is vit d deficiency. But im not sure how much i should take. I havent talked to doctor but the information on the internet are sometimes overwhelming.

Check wth your doc first but when I was VidD deficient my Rheumy recommended DLUX3000 Dailiy VitD Oral Spray.

Did the trick very quickly & now at about this time of year I buy a spray & use it throughout the winter. It tastes quite pleasant...you just spray it under your tongue.

I had no physical symptoms....deficiency just showed up in blood test.

Definiteiy check dosage/ask your GP and take the product and its leaflet/details too. Dosage will be different for each product. The dose I take of Nature's Garden Vit D3 liquid is the maximum dose of ten drops. I was severely Vit D depleted. Regardless of what a product has on its guidelines it's always important to check that is right for you with your GP. Hard to know without asking what is too little or too much. I need to check my vit D levels soon again and be sure I still require the maximum dose. I took the product I use to my GP and showed her so she could see it and read the info and be assured it was the right dose. Good luck!
