Can I take paracetamol with amitriptyline?

Doctor has taken me off codydramol saying that the constant headaches could be codeine induced. He's given me Amitriptyline to take before bed and told me to take paracetamol in the day ... "and see how I get on". I've got a stonking headache, its bedtime and I've taken my Ami .... can I also take some para?

Sorry to read your having headache problems and changing painkillers. I take paracetamol and Amitriptyline together with no problems!. Might be an idea just to ask your pharmacist if it's OK to be doubly sure.

Amitriptyline may help greatly with them as its a relaxant. Are you starting on 10 mg?. Hope it gave you a good nights sleep and your not groggy this morning!. Let me know what the pharmacist says, I'd be interested. X

It is absolutely fine to take amitriptyline and paracetamol. They are different drug families. I hope they help.

How long have you been on codydramol? Withdrawal could also cause symptoms I believe

I've been taking codydramol for years as and when required. Sometimes when I'm good I don't take any for ages or only sporadically or before bed to get a good nights sleep. I also can't take Ibuprofen which is annoying. Thanks for your reply.

I do and tramadol but ask your pharmacist or dr I did first unfortunately I can't take anti inflammatory drugs it's like the sick bit on witches of east wick hope you feal better soon

It's fine to take paracetamol and amitriptyline. I'm prescribed amitriptyline and co-codamol. Co-codamol is codiene and paracetamol together.

Had to google codydramol as I'm not familiar with it. I take tramadol and paracetamol together because tramadol makes me feel sick.....I take 2 paras and 1 tramadol when the niggles wont go away and that seems to work for me

I was on amitriptyline for quite a long time, it does help you to relax. It helped me with breathing at night after I'd gone to bed but it makes yout mouth dry and as I have primary sjogerns the rheumatologist I saw this year said I'd be better with another drug. I'm on gabapentin now. Hope the new prescription works for you xxx
