So I wake up today go to floss/brush my teeth and notice this on my gum not sure if it's a bruise or a burst vein and I'm not sure if I should be worried. I've got ITP & SLE but my ITP is in remission at the moment well I've noticed more bruises lately but this is just odd and I don't j ow if I should be worried??

It's always good to ask your doctor. Just in case. SLE can be so unpredictable.

I've had so many problems with my gums. It's difficult to find the right balance between Lupus and good mouth health.

Best of luck!

It's just really strange to wake up with it and it's still here today. I'll be calling my specialist tomorrow 👍🏼

Hi Sami, I get those all the time, If I knew how to upload pictures, I would post what mine look like to reassure you. They are usually gone within the week. I hope it resolves fast. Nan

Hello,

So I know you said you got them frequently. Do you know or did you find out what they are? I just quite suddenly discovered one on my gum for the first time in my life and am concerned. Do you know what causes it? Thanks for your time!

I think they are just canker sores that start out looking like blood blisters. I’ve been getting them for many years. I don’t know what causes them, but I do believe it’s related to lupus. My rheumatologist says taking extra folic acid about 1 to 3 µg a day. I did find it that helps but I take so many pills I always stick those at the back of the cabinet, and they were the last ones for me to take if I remember. You take care and I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I think it’s pretty common in people with autoimmune disease. XNan

Hi,

So did you ever figure out what that thing is on your gum in the picture? I just suddenly discovered one just like it on my upper gum and an internet search led me here. I'm rather concerned. Do you know what it was? Did it go away or require treatment? Thanks in advance for your time!
