Morning this is a bit of a funny post ive been taking hydroxychloroqine for about a month it was 200mg and a week ago to 400 mg a day has anyone else experienced excessive wind πŸ˜• it's all the time day and night ? Now becoming rather difficult to hold it in when I'm public as my poor friend found out at my son's football awards 😳 we did fall about laughing at the time however my son was mortified and I wasn't his favourite person for a few days πŸ’”

πŸ˜†....Thanks for starting my day with a chuckle! 😊

3 words:

Soya

Fermentable fibre

Any chance you're eating these? At a certain age, I had to give 'em up altogether....

In a word. Yes πŸ€—. For me, it went away after a time, but it's a good idea to check on coco's excellent advice.

Hello. Lots of laughter about this. When I started Hydroxychloroquine I had a very noisey tummy, rumbling and gurgling a lot and wind too but it did settle down. I take my tablets with milk, as I think someone else advised this. It might be your busy getting used to this new drug. I hope this side effect doesn't last long, for your sake and your sons.

Hi rayl ,

What brand of hydroxychloroquine do you take? Some people find that certain brands can cause these kinds of symptoms. You can read more about this at lupusuk.org.uk/hydroxychlor...

Huge problems with wind until recently. Don't believe it was caused by hydroxy. I have lots of gastro problems (oesophagitis, gastritis, slow transit of food to mention just a few). Lots of tests re severe pain behind breastbone, across ribs and radiating round to my shoulder blades but no specific cause identified for these symptoms. I've stopped eating bread and stopped psyllium husband the pain has reduced - definitely less windy!!!! Now just got to try to get the balance right between constipation and trapped wind.

Psyllium 'husks' not 'husband' - just in case anyone thought I was referring to him indoors as a bag of wind πŸ˜‚

I had the same problem. At 200 mg I also had diarrhea, so my rheumy reduced me to 100mg. I take my dose in the evening and on a full stomach, and that has resolved the gas.
