Hi all,
I hope you've had a great Christmas that has been full of joy and not too much pain and suffering.
I'd like to ask if anyone here has had a heart attack due to lupus. I've had at least three this year. I've been diagnosed with Prinzmetal Angina and my cardiologist and rheumy believe this is lupus related. Essentially the arteries in my heart go in to spasm and shut off the supply of blood and oxygen, it's similar to what happens in your hands and feet with Raynaud's, just in your heart. This kind of angina is fairly rare and rarer with me as I have no signs of heart disease (I'm a good weight, healthy eater, exercise as much a lupus will allow me to). It tends to occure in the early hours of the morning and isn't brought on by exercise for example.
Has anyone here experienced something similar? It would be good to connect, I'm only 35 and this on top of the usual lupus related things has really knocked me for six and I'm just not able to work right now, I don't have the energy, I hurt, I get out of breath and tired doing the most simple tasks. It's really starting to get to me. I'd love to hear from people in similar situations and hear how they coped. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?
Thanks for reading and I wish all fellow lupus the very best for the year ahead.
