My bloods also showed a reduced eGFR?

Hi - it looks like you have a firm diagnosis of Lupus - which can affect your lungs and kidneys I'm afraid. There is very good information on the main Lupus UK site if you want to learn more about this disease.

There has just been a post about the e-GFR so you could read the answers on it perhaps. Just scroll down the posts on the homepage until you reach this post.

I'm getting in touch re the GFR , how reduced is your GFR? I'm interested , as I have electrolyte imbalances , which give a reduced GFR. I haven't got much of an idea re this, but the doctors do blood tests once per month to monitor it, but I don't think mines too bad, as they seem pretty relaxed about it.

I have chronic urinary tract / cystitis problems,so I have dipstick tests at home - the ones they use at the surgery to test for infection/ glucose/ protein / blood etc. it's a useful tool to gauge what's going on in urine. My GP told me that I need to keep an eye on protein level in urine, if there's a level above trace, I should drop into the surgery for further tests. Dipsticks are available on Amazon.

I am having follow up with a nephrologist however. Have you been referred?

I have found that there is a lot of info on the National Kidney Foundation website (US) at kidney.org.

Best wishes

I don't know how low it is. Went to see my rheumy and had blood tests last week and she's asked for another on Thursday. I will ask then. Thanks for the link

Hi. My GFR is 57. It was 90

Hi there,

Since your rheumatologist has requested another test you should hopefully soon have a confirmation of whether you have lupus or not. Although this is all probably rather overwhelming don’t hesitate to ask your specialist all the questions you have about your condition and the treatment offered. You might find making a list of questions in advance useful.

If you are diagnosed with the lupus, you might want to request an information pack on the condition here lupusuk.org.uk/request-info... on our website. We also publish various leaflets on the condition lupusuk.org.uk/publications/
