Sorry to bother you...

Hello

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice.

Since March my CRP has been raised. It was 20 (the range goes up to 5) and last week it has come down to 16.

My ESR was raised and now its back to normal.

I have been feeling progressively worse, I feel like Ive been run over when I wake up - body aches, joints are sore and stiff. If I rest during the day, I feel like this again when moving.

I have a red area across my nose and cheeks and it feels bumpy. I thought it was dry skin and have scrubbed it, but it still remains.

My GP tested my ANA and rheumatoid factor and a blood test for gout which have all come back negative. My hands and feet are always cold.

I have also been diagnosed with IBS since April too.

What do I do now? Is this the end of the road as all tests are negative apart from CRP?

Thank youxx

Hi lizzie72,

I’m sorry to hear that you have been struggling to get a diagnosis for your symptoms. It would probably be best if you could get a referral to a rheumatologist for further investigations. They generally have more experience in diagnosing and treating autoimmune and connective tissue diseases than GPs.

If you want more information about lupus and how it is diagnosed you can request or download one of our free packs at lupusuk.org.uk/request-info...

Hello, thank you for replying.

My GP said that some people just have raised CRP levels.

I thought it meant that there is inflammation in the body.

Hi. I realise this is three months down the line but I wasn't too well in September and my CRP was 255. I had a perforated gallbladder. No temperature. No other abnormal blood tests. Weird. Hope you are a million times better now. Xx

Hello Sarah

I hope you are OK now.

Thank you for replying.

My CRP is 9 now, so confusing x

It certainly is but I do think there is a range where the 'normal' rate can increase for no reason and then drop back down. Hope you are feeling well. Happy New year xxx
