Have you seen a dermatologist? Or tried hydrocortisone cream, the prescription one? Do you have Discoild Lupus, that's of the skin. Hope you find a fix.

I have same label as you with ?sjogrens and I get a similar rash on my face when all this flares up. Because it doesn't fit into a nice diagnosis box (it's not typical lupus rash) it gets treated as acne and unrelated. I've had a great cream from dermatologist which cleared it up (my suspicion is only until I get another flare though). Good luck X

I get these anywhere I get to much sun. Mine do not last but a couple of days but, right before they go away they itch like crazy.

I get them on arms, legs, chest, & back any and all places exposed to the sun. I can't explain it (but then who can explain what lupus will do) I do not get them on my face much, and if I do it is only a few of the bumps.

I have found, and my dermatologist recommended, using coconut oil it helps me. I don't know if will work for you but, you might want to give it a try.

I also use 70+ SPF sunscreen (here in the U.S. It is sunscreen for babies) it keeps them down, but it will not stop me from getting them.

Maybe this will help you some.

I wish you well

I also get this rash on any part of my body that has been exposed to the sun. It can take a day or so to come out & can takes wks to go. The itching is horrendous, I can itch so much the site will bleed. I use 50+ sun protection & am learning to keep covered up. I now use 50+ every day, even when I'm not going out as indoor lighting effects me also. The Dermatology clinic gave me high dose steroid cream, which I only use as a last resort. E45 do an anti itching cream which does help a little.

I got the exact same thing all over my face last year, just when the sunny days began. Went to the dermatologists, and after all the imaginable blood tests came out perfect, the biopsy proved it was chronic cutaneous lupus. I'm not saying that's what you have, it could be polymorphous light eruption, for example. But if it's persistent and doesn't heal spontaneously in 7-10 days you should definitely see a dermatologist to investigate it, not dismiss it as acne.

Dr thinks its sun related although rheumy does NT thinks its lupus rash

Hello amandajane76. I can't remember what your diagnosis is currently. I have SCLE, which is a sub group - a mixture of SLE and DLE. The sun is my biggest risk factor for flares and symptoms. I had the full on lupus butterfly when diagnosed, which did help get my diagnosis in the beginning. I have slight scaring from the butterfly/malar rash but it still comes up worse when I am in a flare or have been outdoors - no matter how much Factor 50+ I put on my face. I also get watery, boil/spots on my face. I have 5 or 6 of them now. I don't tend to get spots like I used to before the lupus, not the teenage puss type ones. They are watery and take ages to heal up. I admit I do try squeezing them when they get big and unsightly but only watery stuff comes out. They are better left alone. Mine look different to yours, in that mine look like they have a head. I would say it could me sun or heat related. Has rosacea ever been mentioned? I think you need to see a Dermatologist for a diagnosis. Get to your GP quick. And keep the photos of your skin too. Good luck.

Hello. Just to update you. I saw my dermatologist for a check up on Tuesday. I showed him my spots/boils. I had a new one come up that day. He looked at it with his magnifying glass thing they use. He said, as I am putting on my sun cream, as I should, and re-applying and it's hot, I am sweating and have blocked the hair follicles and they are getting infected. So my spots are not directly my lupus, by an indirect symptom caused by me taking care of my skin in the sun. Never easy is it. And I hadn't thought about it being anything like that. Just goes to show. I hope you get to the bottom of yours.
