I'm curious to know...

I've just been reflecting and I remembered when I went to the rheumatologist last year one of the things he did was run a sharpened tongue depressor (as in, he had got a normal doctors tongue depressor and cut the sides of one end at an angle so it came to quite a sharp point) very lightly down my torso from under my bra down to the hip level.

I am extremely ticklish, so you can imagine me desperately trying not to squirm LOL but he never told me what it was checking for and now I'm curious. My guess is it was something to with small nerve fibres. Has anyone got any idea what he would be checking for or had it done to them?

This clinical test things a bell with me....at the time, my rheumatologist was examining my EDH & neurological issues. Hoping someone can explain....

Ok interesting. Just remembering he did ask me if there was any variation in the feeling. I wonder what would cause the variation in that area? Any ideas?

My feeling is this seems a small fibre nerves thing

Am SURE others will've had this test

Am trying to think how to word the header to a question that might cue more response from the forum, eg:

Has your dr given you the tongue depressor torso tickle test?

😆 ? Have another go here...giving something like that a try? 🤗
