How can I get rid of this bruise ive had for 4/5 months now. It is also numb and still very blue and my knee is still fairly swollen. Dont get me wrong unless I need to kneel it doesnt cause me too much problems but I find myself to self conscious to wear skirts as it is a really BIG bruise.
PS Every one have a very happy New Year.
Regards Diane

hi Diane have you had your knee x-ray to see what damaged you may have caused, it may be your cartilage or if you have cracked your knee bone, i get it x-rayed if i was you. all the best for the new year Alan x
I believe 4-5 months is too long to have bruising and numbness without seeing a doctor. The bruising means you are continuing to injure blood vessels even now. Something is damaged for that to happen. This bruising isn't from 4-5 months ago, it's currently happening. I suspect a Dr. will want some kind of imaging to see what damage has occurred. The numbness also can be something out of place putting pressure on a nerve. Possibly loose cartilage, a bit of bone, I don't know. But these aren't normal, and you aren't healing on your own. If you want to be rid of these problems, you need to see a Dr. to find your answers, in my opinion. Best wishes for your good health.
I agree. It sounds like there could be insufficient blood flow due to diabetes or some other disease that is preventing it from healing properly. See a MD.
~Thank you all. I was hoping someone would tell me they had had it and its quite normal. Im being silly really will get myself to the docs AGAIN you can seeing them hiding behind the desk when I go to see them. Its quite funny really they either are dreading me or they think it is very interesting but cant really help.
I went to the docs about 6 months ago and while there a nurse came rushing in and apologised for interrupting but asked the doctor if he could recommend anything as their worse nightmare was in the surgery. A lady had come in with a very bad infection and she took WARFARIN. Oh dear my doctor said ill have to look up to see what penicillin or antibiotic they could administer that wouldnt affect the warfarin.
All of a sudden his eyes lit up and he turned to me. He then said you take Warfarin dont you Diane do you think we should give her penicillin.
After looking him full in the face I told him to go back to med school and walked out. Havent seen him since and really dont wish to.
Ill go to see a different doctor.
Thank you all and a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Hi Diane, actually I have bruises on my lower legs which I've had for over a year. They are not painful to touch and they don't itch but they are unsightly (although my legs are not what they were so possibly they add something!). I did speak to the rheumatologist about it but she said there was nothing to worry about. I'll be interested to hear what your doctor has to say about it.
The problem is I do have a lump n numbness as well as the itching. A while ago when I saw an acupuncturist for pain she ran a machine over to try to disburse the haematoma it didn't work n this is what is left. Will let u know the outcome
