It can depends on the person how long it takes the body to get rid of anything. I am still suffering the bad effects of drugs 15 years ago. I wouldn't touch most drugs now after finding out the awful suffering of side-effects of the drugs on top of the problems I had already which were relatively mild in comparison.

I was on hydroxy for nearly 4 years when immunology investigations required a pause of 5 months this year. I suppose I began to miss the positive effects of hydroxy within a few weeks. Certainly some of my symptoms became much worse at that point, and went on to progressively worsen as those 5 months passed. When I restarted hydroxy, the benefits returned within a few weeks, but even so a degree of the extra debilitation caused by those months off hydroxy continues. As I understand it, the benefits of long term hydroxy are now considered cumulative. As with all pharmaceuticals the risk/benefit ratio is important.
