Hi all

been told by school (work ) that I have to have the hep a vaccine , has anyone else had it or know how it will affect lupus? On hydroxychloroquine and meloxicam.

Where do you live/work? Are you sure it is Hep A and not Hep B?

Well. I'm not sure why you would need Hep A for occupational reasons. It's not a live vaccine and as long as your not on the likes of methotrexate, large amounts of steroids to suppress the immune system it should be okay. If your in any doubt though ring your consultant.

Hep a is usually for travel where you might be at risk from contaminated water and food, especially sea food and people with poor hygeine handling your food. You will need 2 injections 6 months apart for long term cover of over 20 years

Hep b on the other hand is given for occupational purposes. It's not a live vaccine either
