I'll be interested to see comments here as I suffer with the same problem I've asked my previous gp for help and have been told it can't be done on the nhs but before I start paying I would like to know whether there'd be any effects

Hi I had really dark facial hair was forever shaving. I decided to treat myself to laser treatments and I never had any effects. You wear protective goggles so eyes are safe etc. has made a real difference. Just go once a year now for any new growth that sometimes slips through! Will say it's not a cheap option. Paid £600 for 6 sessions which was plenty but worth it.

The problem with laser is that it contains a concentrated beam of uv light, uv light being bad for lupus sufferers, particularly for those who are on immunosuppression.

Electrolysis is a 'safer' procedure from a uv perspective but I understand that it is more painful. It is best to speak to a reputable beautician about the pros and cons, describing the disease you have so that she can take that into account. I thought about having this myself but the thought of pain - ugh.

Electrolysis is the only safe and effective, proven method of permanent hair removal, both FDA and BMA approved. Also the great news is that it isn't always painful, the settings and modalities can be adjusted according to the clients tolerance. I do not know what it is like for a Lupus sufferer but am very sensitive to my clients needs and always work to their pace. Also the Apilus xcell pur machine, which I use for all my hair removal was created with client comfort in mind, is up to 60% more tolerable than other machines out there. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have as I am very passionate about my work and would like to help.
