Hi Andrew, welcome to the 10% Club!!! No, you are not alone. I am male (naturally), and was diagnosed in 2006 after 2 years of symptoms. I have the range of skin, neuro neurothopy in both legs, Intersantal Lung Disease as well as the normal fatigue, aches and pains all other Lupus sufferers have. I have only my wife and cats, as the kids have grown and gone.
I don't know where you live, but I run the Suffolk Lupus Group, website suffolklupusgroup.org and we meet around 6 times a year around Suffolk.
If you want some more info, or want to unload, I am also one of the national contacts listed in the back of News and Vies and my number is 01725 724386.
Hang in there fella, at least you have a good firm diagnosis! Take care buddy and talk when you feel like it.
I am NOT male but if you have a look at this post
healthunlocked.com/lupusuk/...
... on the lupus forum, it contains suggestions as to why the vast majority of lupus /auto immune sufferers may be female. Many suggestions that it may be related to thyroid/iodine imbalances. Females seem to have a greater need for iodine than males.
I am NOT medically trained. I just decided to read and seek information.
You should do your own reading to establish whether whatever I think maybe relevant is in fact true.
Hi there Andrew. Another chap here. I've one of those multiple, mixed up diagnoses that covers all sorts of autoimmune issues dating back some thirty years now. Welcome aboard and good luck. Stephen.
My son knows of one man he plays online team games with who has Lupus, you're not alone Andrew..hugs
