Two things spring to mind, if you have blocked saliva ducts, this can make your neck swell rapidly, (often part of Sjogrens Disease), which is often something people develop when they already have an autoimmune disease, the other thing is perhaps a goiter, again another autoimmune to acquire is a Thyroid problem, or to rule out a very bad throat infection perhaps, but either way you need a doctor. told gp of this several times and all i get is "I cant feel anything".only had TSH tested which was 3.2.not an infection as throat not sore but difficulty swallowing meds etc.possibly have sjogrens-discolouration around eyes and swollen tongue?will show him pics of all my "swellings"at next appointment?but then they may tell me what gp dismisses.
Does you swollen tongue have scalloped edges, as that is very much a symptom of an underactive thryoid! MaryF
I have Sjogren's but don't know what you mean by 'sjogrens-discolouration around eyes'?
im not sure about scalloped edges(?)but edges are swollen as well as back f tongue(one gp says it was taste buds??)cant always see my throat.have several hypothyroid symptoms btu gp dismisses them cos TSH within range tho high end at 3.2.T3 T4 notr tested
Ok, well firstly see a different GP, a locum or another dr at the practice, and also join Thyroid UK, stay on this platform, but they will help you with your Thyroid issues, their charity site carries good information, and their forum on here is very good. If you google scalloped tongue and look at images you will see what I mean. MaryF
why is it I get possible answers from fellow members but gps refuse to give me any answers
