Wouild be interesting what others think. My stomache has been like that for 10 years I look about 15 months pregnant and really gets me down
hello Snowdragon, what has your gp said about it?how do you cope.it get sme down to see other women walking around in skimpy tops and I cant go out without a coat on to hide my stomach.havent eaten today-not hungry couldn't face breakfast-stomach discomfort and painful pelvis from time got up.i don't see how in this day and age drs cant do anything .keeps saying mine is a bowel problem tho never had any and wont accept that my weight gain over the years is all abdominal (talking 11 kgs between 2005 and 2011 plus more since last year-another 2-3 kgs).nothing to do with diet as don't eat anything.
My husband's is exactly like that, and has the 'shelf' too. It's water retention in his case. His stomach isn't flabby or wobbly like it would be from excess weight, it's rock hard to touch.
Hello, are you on steroids? as they can make you swell up in places you don't want to, or I would see your GP fairly quickly and get your ovaries checked. ( of course you could be pregnant!)
Please see your GP about it and let us know how you get on.
hi teapot65 .no am not on steroids.i saw my gynae (in april)after going to A&E-did scan said ovaries ok,didnt have smear that the dr wanted to do -cos of excruciating pain.definitely no chance of pregnancy-5 years past menopause.tried to get an appointment today -none left by time I got thru.have been battling with gp for last 2 years trying to get a diagnosis.he said he would speak to my gynae btu not arrange fro me to see him.
Hi anbuma
I have been 'growing' since December. I have put on 2 stone + in that time. I really hate it as I am an apple shape, so its all gone on my tummy. I hate the shelf and I'm finding it embarrassing as I have never been this big. I have started wearing sun dresses rather than trousers and thats not me but they are so much more comfortable.
Hi whathappend. what is the cause of your abdo swelling?does your dr take you seriously when you tell him your weight gain is all abdominal?mine wouldn't accept that nor did rheumatologist.i wont wear dresses and my trousers wont go over my stomach .so don't go out without a coat on.it feels uncomfortable as long as they don't fall down!!!
cant believe in this day and age they cant do anything for us to rid of our huge stomachs
Hi, I am in the process of tests with the rheumatologist who agrees I have an autoimmune problem but has not defined it completely as lupus yet. I have a stomach like that too.....it has been getting bigger over the past couple of years regardless of diet or exercise levels but my GP laughs it off. I find it all very depressing......
as far as I know one of the symptoms of lupus is abdo swelling-apparently it affects the abdominal wall(muscles?).my gp has laughed at me a couple of times and when I said that I had been ridiculed and patronised(in a letter to my MP),at one appointment gp said it made him angry and I could always go back to the other surgery.i bet they would not tolerate it if it was their wife or family that was treated in that way by their gp.wish I had their money to treat their patients like S...!!
after receivgn letter from hospital re endoscopy it said stop taking lansoprazole fro 2 weeks .only have few days til op.(now it s tomorrow)maybe that's why feel worse(stomach)but its pressure against ribs that is worse today.my dogs are worse too-not eating today,i wonder if thats why my Annie is constantly biting at her toes-concern for me/rather than an allergy.??I just keep having htoughts it s something serious because gp dismisses everything I tell him and no answers.HU members have been a great support -more than any friends or family who don't have hte time of day or understand what im (we)going thru.no matter what I tell them/it aint all about scans and bloods but symptoms too as thtas why we go to the gp in the first place and why gps do these tests.then thye dismiss symptoms cos the labs say everhytign is normal.
