Lupus can affect your nails - my thumb nails split from the nail bed upwards and then thicken around the split - it does grow out and my consultant told me that lupus can cause this,. Yet another thing that can go wrong with us lupies - under my nails I also have bruises on every nail - so when there are no splits I treat myself to a manicure with shellac it looks much better and a little treat x sue

mine is definately psoriasis. skin under nails grows thick and pushes the nail off the nail ned. also red blood splinters. given treatment to put on at night. Maybe it is just anothe unconnected ailment. I always have shellac on mine!.. hides them well.
