Hi Newloop

When you were prescribed Methotrexate were you told not to take Folic acid on the same day you take your Metho dose? Then take Folic acid the rest of the week as it acts like an antidote. It's a helpful drug so I hope you improve on it. Hope you were also told about the regular blood tests needed? Hope I've helped?X

Hi there.

I have found methotrexate has worked wonders with me. I am much better on this drug.

I've had to have fortnightly bloods for 6 months, which is quite unusual, due to a few minor concerns with my white cell count, but it's stable now and I'm on to 4 weekly blood tests.

I do find I'm more fatigued in the evening, but I walk 20-30 miles per week so I have to put that into perspective.

For me, it's been a success story. Other drugs were no longer effective in controlling my disease activity, and this is doing the trick nicely.

Hi I have been a Lupie for nearly twenty years and have tried all sorts of cocktails of drugs but found that Methotrexate has been the best thing I have tried, I take it orally one day and folic acid twice weekly two other days as it helps the liver to process the Methotrexate and with luck stops you getting the side effects from it. It has been better than any of the other immune suppressing drugs I have tried I have even been able to start leading a full and active life again and feel great, the pain is there but I can cope with that I just plan my days very care fully. I have my regular bloods done and am very lucky to have a great G.P. and lupus nurse who will phone if there are any concerns as I have other ongoing conditions that they have to keep an eye on.

All the very best to you I hope that the Methotrexate is as effective for you as it has been for me
