Anyone else feel terrible next day (fatigue/pain) if they've had just a few drinks?

I get terrible headaches the next day, don't drink white wine anymore. Red wine is a definite no no for me.

Nightmare...I only had a few low alcohol wines!...small glasses, sipped too :(

Me unfortunately. Can't even have just one as I will wake up with raging 'hangover' and all my symptoms will flare up for about seven days after :-) going on nights out without alcohol is taking some getting used to!

I'm pretty sure alcohol increases my inflammation. The following day I feel bloated and swollen and generally ache all over. For me, it really isn't worth it anymore, and I used to love a good drink on a weekend before SLE. But, hey no hangovers to put up with, there's always a bright side.

I stopped drinking years before I knew I had SLE because even ine drink would make me feel awful.

Sorry, one!

I love red wine but have given it up . It is not worth the payout the next day. I can drink champagne a good one!!!!

Yes, I get this too. Since getting lupus the most I've had is 3 drinks. I woke up through the night being sick and always have the "hangover" symptoms from 1 drink so just don't bother any more! X

I went out for lunch yesterday and had 2 glasses of cider, by evening my legs were terrible, I took extra painkillers- very rare that I drink now as my reaction is same day with pain. I had put this question on my list for when I see consultant if it was connected to lupus but you have all answered it for me, tea total now :(

Blimey, what a nightmare....might have to take up gambling so I can at least have one vice!!

Can't drink any alcohol - can only drink diluted fruit juice, herbal teas and water in fact, so don't drink what makes me feel bad as what kind of a fool does that make me?

Yes I think we all agree Alcohol and lupus doesn't go we'll But a white wine spritzer works for me So alcohol content is reduced to 6/7 % vol We really shouldn't have any caffeine so decaf is my drink or soda water .

glad I read this one, as I had a glass of wine sat in the garden at 8.00 on saturday night, celebrating after having a really good week, feeling near normal for the first time in a long time. Sunday morning really regretting it, everything ached(even my fingers) and felt that I couldn't get going at all all day. Just sat and vegged out and felt pretty fed up.

Hate to say it, but I'm okay with it. Obviously not overdoing it though. However, I'm sure it is best avoided. The key is to listen to your body and do all you can to keep it at it's optimum.

Never ever had headaches after alcohol before but do since having Lupus, just stick to low alcohol lager occasionally now and that seems to be ok :)

Hi

I have found that if I drink alcohol as long as I drink plenty of water before I go to bed I am fine the next day as it stops me getting dehydrated and so my kidneys don't suffer too much. Another thing I have found is that cider is something that has no nasty effects on me the morning after and there are some very pleasant alcohol free ones about so I punctuate the alcoholic ones with alcohol free and can do that most of the night....until four in the morning recently! ;-) Just felt a little tired the next day so had an early night.

I have not noticed a difference since having lupus which is twenty years than before but I don't drink alcohol regularly just now and then.

Good luck and cheers for when you doo have one

Thats good it does seem that we are being better catered for if we don't want to drink alcoholic drinks now. There are two alcohol free ciders in Asda and Sainsburys near here, mixed fruit Kopperberg which is very pleasant and pear Kopperberg which tastes just like old fashioned pear drops and is very refreshing so if anybody wants a completely tee total evening but wants to feel like they are joining in they are ideal, available in both cans and bottles and with no duty on them they are much cheaper than the strong stuff! Happy days. ;-)

I gave up just over a year ago, the alcohol plus lupus symptoms the next day was unbearable! Best thing I ever did, but if I'd have been able to choose I'd have given up the Lupus too!

Have you tried the non alcohol drinks? Good luck .

Thanks guys I have been keeping an eye out and there seems to be quite a lot of choice out there!! :)

Yes, I have been experiencing the same problems with alcohol. I wonder if trying organic alcoholic drinks would make any difference..Any thoughts?
