Dear Tammy,

Welcome to LUpus Patients Understanding & Support (LUPUS) at HealthUnlocked.

Some families have more than their fair share of autoimmune diseases and you seem to have been very unlucky in having several!

The pain you are describing from your lower spine IS excruciating as I have also had severe spinal inflammation and a major operation.

You might not think so, but Percocet is excellent for acute pain. For chronic pain, there are slow release drugs that work for 12 hours. Therefore, one needs to take 2 of these. However, this is for your doctor to discuss. Percocet is not slow release and therefore when its effects wear off, you are in pain again. Please return to your doctor and ask for chronic pain relief as well.

I hope your appointment goes well. Please let me know what hppens with your new rheumatologist.

Thank you for ur response.

Tammy, It is cruel to leave someone in pain. You are right. To start, my feet hurt so bad I can't walk in the morning until I get special shoes on, and also had a foot surgery that made it worse. I have a terrible spine also and for surgery they want to put a rod all the way up my spine. I would be unable to bend over. So I go to a very good Pain Management clinic. You need to find one where they don't make you feel like you are addicted, but where you are in less pain. As my doctor said, It will never be completely gone, but they work to make it tolerable. I love and appreciate them.

Find the right place and don't let any doc make you feel you are a terrible person.
