PATIENT EXPERIENCE OF DURVALUMAB (IMFINZI)

Durvalumab (Imfinzi) will shortly be assessed by the Scottish Medicine Consortium (SMC) for use in NHS Scotland.

The indication this medicine will be assessed under is: “In combination with platinum-based chemotherapy as neoadjuvant treatment, followed by durvalumab as monotherapy after surgery, is indicated for the treatment of adults with resectable (tumours ≥ 4 cm and/or node-positive) NSCLC and no known EGFR mutations or ALK rearrangements.”

We have been invited to provide a Patient Group Submission for the indications of this medicine, and are therefore trying to gather some patient experience quotes in support for this proposed treatment; you do not have to live in Scotland to comment and it would be extremely helpful to know the following:

What was your experience of Durvalumab (Imfinzi)? Did you have any side effects and were they managed well.

How did being on Durvalumab affect your quality of life?

If you have had treatment before or after surgery, what was your experience?

Would you have preferred to have treatment before surgery?

If you are happy to comment on any of the questions, please get in touch, no personal details are needed but discussing it with you will help us put together the document on behalf of patients.

Please either comment below, private message or email ann.doran@roycastle.org, alternatively, you can phone the Roy Castle Ask the Nurse service on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600

All comments are welcome, so please do get in touch.

Thank you in advance.

I am currently on IMFINZI. I have small cell lung cancer, have been through chemo, radiation and now this. I get nauseated but that's common for me. It makes me a little tired for the first week or so but that's not new either. It hadn't worked for me because mine had metastisized to my bone and tonsils.

Dear Murfeezlaw

Thank you for your feedback , it is much appreciated, and sorry to hear of your nausea; you said that you are currently on this treatment but it did not work for you, I assume you have now stopped this perhaps. Nausea can wear you down and I hope that the anti sickness medication helps you with this.

You may find this link from Cancer Research UK helpful on nausea (even though you have had this for awhile) there may be something useful in this for you: cancerresearchuk.org/about-...

If you would like support, we offer online support groups through zoom or one to one support by phone, you can view and register for these through this link:roycastle.org/help-and-supp... alternatively you can email our support coordinator Ellen Knapp at ellen.knapp@roycastle.org

You are welcome to contact our ask the nurse services, our helpline is 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600, over the Christmas and New Year period, we are open today, close for the New Year and resume on the 2nd January, you can also email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org
