First week done

So after a lot of stress and going from stage 2b to stage 3 my first week of chemoradiotherapy has finished, weekend off before vinorelbine capsules Monday and back on the radiotherapy. Didn't expect to feel so rough after first week and looking for advice please. After the week of radiotherapy I have a very strange sensation when sneezing, coughing, yawning etc, it sort of goes straight across my face ear to ear and affects nose down if that makes sense, has anyone experienced similar and have any advice please.

StaypOsitive , it is only to be expected that you will feel exhausted after your first week of chemotherapy and radiotherapy , each of these treatments on there own can be exhausting , in combination more so and there is the travelling to the hospital every day that can add to this . It is important to be kind to yourself and if a nap during the day or some quiet time can be fitted into your day I would recommend that. Keeping hydrated and eating well if possible can also help.

It is important that you report any new symptoms to your oncology team such as the strange sensation you are having when you are sneezing or coughing. This can be done via the staff at the radiotherapy department or by contacting your clinical nurse specialist , cancer treatment helpline or your oncology consultants secretary , which ever way that was suggested to you at your oncology appointment.

I hope the rest of your treatment goes well. If you require any further information or support you can call our Lung Cancer Information and Support Services on 0333 323 7200 or by visiting our website roycastle.org .

Stick with it. Radiotherapy worked a little miracle for me. It didn't eradicate the cancer, but it reduced it to 2.5cm from 9cm.

I hope you feel better soon.
