Radiotherapy Soon

Well, terrible night's sleep! Appointment at Salford Royal today, going to be a long day. Morning a chat with Consultant and mask measurements in afternoon! That sounds very scary, can anyone reassure me! Back on Monday for another consultation and mask check. Radiotherapy week after. I'll keep you posted. Sending love to all going through this nightmare.

I had 12 sessions every day weekend off. I was fastened to bed no longer than 6 mins, it took me longer to get undressed. Once you’ve done it once it’s fine. I’m now 9 days after last treatment skin a little bit red that’s all. I used aveeno morning and night on area. My throat is a bit sore they’ve given me meds to take before food which is helping. My voice is croaky which is frustrating, other than that I’m ok. Plus I had gamma knife Friday which was double scary but I got through it. So no quiet sure what to expect from that. All I know is my team are working so hard to get me well. I’ll do anything. Sending love remember we can do hard things xLet me know how it goes xxx

Hi Rob, hope you're ok, how's things going. Long day today but went well. Saw Consultant and he explained everything about the brain scan I was having at 2pm. He had the brain scan that I had done at Christie on screen to show me and reassure me, it is one very tiny spot. He said that where it is in the brain, he's pretty certain it's my compressed spine due to osteoporosis. He then said that the brain scan today is much more powerful and that will be 100% as to where the problem lies

I felt quite ok under the scan, 1/2 hour at most, it also measures your head for the mask! Go back Monday for mask molding and another CT scan. Gosh, I've rambled there Rob, sorry. Keep in touch and thanks for caring. Sending love and best wishes. Pam xxx

Hi Pam

Been thinking about you and So pleased things well with Consultant and that he reassured you about the brain scan. A friend of mine had one of those caps and said the worst part was the fitting. He too brought the mask home and shows it off like an award. I thought it looked like something from Dr Who!

Be thinking of you on Monday as that is when I see my Oncologist.

Will have a lot to catch up on.

Sending you lots of strength and support.

Rob

Hi Rob, been thinking about you too, and hope you're ok. It's all very stressful isn't it, but we're stuck with it, long days ahead for us, it just becomes part of our routine really. Radiotherapy starts Wednesday 8/12. Yes we will have a lot to catchup on Rob! Is your leg on the mend? Take care and speak soon. Love Pam xxx

Hi Pam

I’m fine, you have certainly been on a roller coaster and I am about to start mine.

Leg still aches so not able to lift as easily as before - will mention on Monday but with pain killers it is bearable. Sure if that was the worst everything would be hunky dory.

At least on Monday I will know what I am up agains and treatment options which is much better than waiting and not knowing.

Hope you are sleeping better.

Rob

Hiya Rob, glad you’re feeling better and leg not too bad, rollercoaster begins. You just want to get on with it don’t you. Hope all goes well on Monday Rob, the wait will at least be over and hopefully a treatment plan. It’s strange really isn’t it, it just becomes your daily routine, one we don’t wish to experience. Keep in touch Rob, let me know how it goes on Monday. Be thinking of you. Take care. Sending love and best wishes. Pam xxxx

Loimie you are bound to be scared, but it is certainly just another thing that sounds scary but will be a breeze. You will get through but try and stay positive. The mask only takes about 20 minutes to make as Tina's was about that time. Keep positive Bab.

Hi, thanks for your reassurance, I feel ok about it now, just another day, another path none of us want to tread. Love Pam xx
