Hi, I am nearly 6 weeks out from having a Bi-lobectomy and I am experiencing terrible nausea, this has been going on since the second day after surgery. Is this normal?

Hi there yes it can be a common effect. I got some anti sickness tablets from my doctor to help me. :)

Thank you for your reply. I have some anti sickness tablets so would I take them 4 times a day as directed, how long did you need to take yours before the nausea stopped.

Dear Eglingham

It should state on the box the frequency that you can take your tablets, if you are unsure perhaps call your local pharmacy who will be able to advise, if you are not getting relief at all from your anti sickness tablets, do let your GP or pharmacist know.

I have placed a link on tips to help nausea from Macmillan support, hope this helps in some way:

Hope you feel better soon

Dear Eglingham

Nausea is so unpleasant and will obviously impact on not just your well being but your diet and keeping yourself nourished to heal.

I would discuss this with your GP , lung cancer nurse specialist or specialist. It may be it is the medication that you are taking that could be causing this, and they be able to prescribe something for you.

Please do not think that you cannot contact them with this because of the current pandemic, your symptoms need to be assessed and treatment offered for you.

As always if you wish to discuss anything you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

Kind regards
