I’ve been posting and receiving support and advise since being diagnosed stage 3A adenocarcinoma 7 months ago. After chemoradiation treatment and much prayer and council I decided to have alobectomy this past Friday. Currently in hospital in recovery. Home tomorrow.
The Surgery itself went fine but surgeon decided not to do lobectomy due to my heart giving problems. He removed 6 lymph nodes and wedge section of tumor upper left. Now will await lab results of tissue. So the road leads onward. I feeling positive and hopeful as I rest. Just wanted to update those followers and well wishers. I will continue my adventure. God Bless all of you, SteveO

Well done on having the surgery at all given your heart issue. Wedge resections are common in some countries and at least it has been removed along with lymph nodes. Yes wishes for your recovery - there are some useful hints and tips in the 'my surgery' booklet on Roy Castle website if you haven't looked at it yet. From memory, my main tips would be to sleep propped up with pillows, resume some activity as soon as possible and take pain relief if needed. good luck and keep us posted on your progress. onwards and upwards.
That's a good thing to have the motivation for your recovery. however regular advice about taking walks etc now affected by Covid 19 government advice so maybe if you have a garden walk around that, or walk up and down the lower stairs or our living room/bedroom several times as you become more mobile. take care
Glad you are recovering from your wedge resection. As JanetteR57 has said we have a really useful booklet on lung surgery and have placed the link here for you, it also has a section on after care and what to expect:
This link is from a group of charities called' Once cancer voice' and provides additional and specific information on shielding yourself during the Coronavirus outbreak:
If there is anything you wish to discuss when you get home you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or you can call our freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200
