Hi I am John. I was diagnosed with Small cell Lung Cancer in June 2015 and have been in remission since November of that year. I know that this is good and all i could hope for but lately my usual positivity has turned to worry . I am told this is normal, does anyone else have any ideas that may help ?
Hello: Hi I am John. I was diagnosed... - The Roy Castle Lu...
Hello
Hi John, I managed to find a quote from a lung cancer expert that might make you feel a bit better.
"However, SCLC is typically fast growing, so it becomes less and less likely that it will return if it hasn't done so by 12-16 months later. "
As you have done 2 years, things should be looking good.

Hi John
Sorry to hear you have had SCLC but encouraging that you have been in remission for 2 years. It is normal and understandable that past any timeline given, you start to worry or be anxious that it may return.
Do not worry alone, discuss this with either your GP/Specialist/ lung cancer nurse/ support groups or if you have a Maggies centre near you they provide lots of practical, emotional and social support. This is the link to their website: maggiescentres.org
This link will direct you to lung cancer support groups that may be in your area:

Hi John,
I don't know if you enjoy reading - but I found the book 'Cancer is a word not a sentence' by Dr Rob Buckman really helpful in changing my mood from anxious to hope as well as 'Anti Cancer - a new way of life' by Dr Servan Schreiber. well done on your 2 years so far - here's to many more.
Thanks Janette I will look it up

johnnyb63 ive never had lung cancer myself but i lost my beloved mum to this awful disease in 2015 and attended lots of appointments and done a lot of reading up on sclc. I think that being in remission for 2 years already is a fantastic sign as someone said this type of cancer is fast growing so i would of thought if it was going to come back it would of already. Sending love and positive thoughts to you xxx
