Hi their, I was wondering with cancer can blood tests resemble as totally normal?

Thyroid tests? Is their any relevance in the diagnosis and the results of blood tests?

Im 29, it all started for me in october when I had a bad chest infection, doc said he could hear the crackles lower left lung, 2 lots of doxycycline still didnt feel right, had shortness of breath bad with it, then I went to urgent care over christmas said it sounded like pleurisy and have I lost any weight and to see my doc after a week, I did quit smoking in Oct, saw my doc she gave me a inhaler and co amoxiclav, and booked me a spirometery, said my airways were very narrow I said I smoked previously she said could be copd I said could it be cancer she said unlikely with age, had lots of throat clearing from lungs thick! Has slowed down now, I have terrible back pain for over 8 weeks started either side of spine now pain is in my upper spine I have right shoulder pain right knee pain, pain under my ribs and it doesnt go away, nothing makes it better, with all that going on I did have 2 clear chest x Ray's, spirometery was ok round 78%, Bloods my thyroid tsh has came back low!I asked to be refferred to respiritory as all this has stared with those infections and my chest just feels like its burning away so she refferred me, I was refferred to muscaler skeletal team before this, went back to docs in pain and more related to right side was refferred to neurology awaiting my respiritory and neurology appointment. Went to msk appointment last week he said he would have diagnosed fibromyalgia before I explained to him about everything I have going on and has told me if everything was to come back normal then he would put it down to fibromyalgia, I'm just not convinced to me it all seems respiritory. My right shoulder hurts upper spine, I'm so fatigued, generally feel weak, the thick mucous , I have a dry cough but dont cough alot it's just their, bowels are un predictable I feel constipated but bowels are loose. Just all a waiting game I guess.

I have 2 very young children so my mind is quite constant on all of this atm especially with all the pain I feel I'm in however,

My 2 year old daughter I feel since jan has constantly bein to the docs had a few antibiotics and still feels chesty seems as though nothings working each time her chest sounded clear so she wasnt given anything but x ray showed upper left love phneumonia now she has crackles the other side her co amoxiclav I dont feel improved her chest Sounds, wondered if their was a like with how iv bein feeling with my chest, she is ok in herself.

Thankyou for your time, G

Technically, any cancer that is large enough to cause you problems should be large enough to see on a CT. The key word is should, it doesn’t always work that way. Get a second opinion.

While your age makes it less likely to be cancer there are no guarantees. I’ve met dozens of 20-40 year olds with lung cancer at National patient educational seminars. Have your home tested for radon, look for molds. Request a low dose CT. If insurance won’t cover it self pay.

Please have doc check you for cancer. If for no other reason but to rule it out. G-d Bless.

Ok, which would be a ct scan? My bloods all seem to be normal, stool sample normal as well as x Ray's

I made an editing error and this is to correct that. Technically any tumor large enough to cause your symptoms is large enough to show on an X-ray. But there is no such thing as always when it comes to cancer.

It's quite feasible for severe chest infections to cause pains in the back and chest due to coughing and the lungs not only being at the front of the body (they run from front to back. Pleurisy and pneumonia both cause discomfort especially on coughing. Coughing up mucous still sounds like infection in the way you describe and as you're having all the relevant tests, you're doing the right thing in asking to see somebody from respiratory services. If you additionally have other complications, these can sometimes we worsened by taking medications for something else. Your anxiety levels sounds very high - especially about your young family so your irregular bowel habits may also be linked to this as there are clear links between mind and gut. (think of 'trust your gut/instinct phrase). A chest x-ray (or low dose CT if these are available) should show any irregularities if caused by something other than infection or even show the inflammation if that's what is causing the problems you're experiencing. hope you get some answers soon. in the meantime, try not to stress - our imaginations can run riot and the reality is often quite different. Many people with lung cancer do not have symptoms at all and the condition is detected whilst investigating for something else but if your bloods are normal, your respiratory function acceptable and you've been seen by medical professionals who are suggesting MSK issues, go with what they're suggesting and see if you can get to a respiratory professional to either put your mind at rest or get suitable treatment.
