Hi everyone, as previously mentioned I went to my mothers post op appointment. Doctor seemed very happy with the healing and everything. At that moment I was so nervous I forgot to ask so many questions and right now I am overthinking. But I am not sure of the whole diagnosis. He said the tumor was not super agressive, but on the malignant side which increased risk of mets. That is why he wants my mom to follow up with the oncologist to see what she thinks about it. My mom has had this lung tumor for 6 YEARS with no treatment because at the time she was dealing with dyalisis. And it barely had a complication. Now it has been removed and the area surrounding is clear? Like how can one live so many years with a tumor and still have clear lymphnodes to this day. Im thankful to God! I am just confused.
I did not ask for the stage of the cancer, which us why I keep beating myself for it right now. He just told me that all of the lymph nodes came back clear and negative. And that he was happy my mom was doing well. Now I am like confused. Would he tell me if the cancer was bad? Or if it was present? He was super nice and happy about the whole procedure but like I have no closure because I DIDNT ASK ENOUGH! Ugh now I have to wait for the oncologist. Like have any of you had a lobectomy? Did the doctor tell you what type of cancer you had there?

Be kind to yourself. While you are not a child you are too young to have to be learning to deal with these issues Monday call the doctors office and ask to speak with the doctor´s nurse. If they want your questions in advance tell them your mom needs to know the type of tumor; the stage of the tumor; whether it is well, moderately or poorly differentiated; and if the genomic testing has been completed if testing is completed they can send you a copy of that report.
Before your mom left the doctors office they should have given her a copy of the biopsy report. Make sure she has given you permission to receive all information.
From what you have written there is some information I can surmise Because they did the surgery she doesn´t have stage four cancer. They wouldn´t do the surgery if she did.
What I don´t know is if she had that encapsulated tumor biopsied 6 years ago. Not every nodule is malignant I have nodules that they have been watching since 2010 that have not turned cancerous.
Hope your Saturday is going well! Well we did not get a copy of the report at all, doctor just told us that. Apparently my dad did talk to the oncologist after the surgery since she payed a visit to my mom during her stay. Her tumor was biopsed twice and they said treatable but cancerous. The oncologist told my dad she thinks it is not that likelycome back since it took so long to grow and the areas were clean. The type of cancer is obviously at risk always, but she said she was more to the not coming back side.( I dont know why my dad barely told me this) Anyways, she wants to do more studies to be sure she is sure and 100%. I will call just to be more informed. Everyone is so calm like the oncologist and surgeon, seems like I am the paranoid one. And i dont know about the genomic testing. But the tumor and everything was biopsed and researched before and after surgery. She got MRIs, and lots of work done for a 3 weeks.
