I am the spouse of a 70 year old small cell Lung Cancer Patient. Married 46 years . he presented in Dec. 2022 to a physiatrist for shoulder and arm pain . He listened to his story and pain path and suspected a left upper Pancoast tumor. onto the CT scan who confirmed mass . Then for biopsy which came back positive for Small Cell . By Feb.5th meeting with oncologist & Radiologist . Began Chemo Radiation the next week ;6 weeks radiation and 4 weeks of chemo with two episodes of neutropenia but finally made it through with severe side effects. Good news the initial pain he began Tx with was gone by 3rd day of treatment . A couple injections Neulasta got him through to the end . Went for follow up Ct and followed up with Dr June 12th with the intention of discontinuing TX as quality of life was in the gutter . Before we could say anything he told us we had a 50% reduction in tumor size and no further Tx was planned ; just monitoring . We left in confusion but thankful . Anyone have comments or suggestions at this point . Thanks in advance . Loveydearheart

Pancoast Tumor
I posted on your other question. I hope you got it.
What does TX stand for?? I had a pancoast tumor on my right upper side it was 7 years ago after I did the radiation for 6 weeks and chemo they said that the tumor was completely gone but they still had me follow up with surgery and also another few more months of chemo after the surgery so I don't know why they would say that you're done
Congratulations to you and your spouse for sticking with the treatment and the positive outcome.
Thank you Barbara , I pray it is positive . He had his 2nd MRI and it showed that a white spot deep in the posterior brain had resolved but they were somewhat concerned about a small vessel in the general region of the spot had collapsed or something of that nature . Just said they would look at that again on the next MRI . The Ct scan from collar bone to pelvis showed up a new nodule in his bladder which was surgically removed yesterday . No definitive diagnosis on what that may be . We see the Urologist tomorrow to remove the catheter . Maybe pathology will be benign . We also see oncology tomorrow afternoon for follow up labs and visit with Dr.
I am a stage 3 lung cancer survivor that had chemo, radiation, and immunotherapy and by the grace of God I have been in remission for 3 years now. I only had one side effect from the chemo where I was loosing consciousness from my first round of chemo, but a wonderful oncologist nurse noticed and gave me Benadryl which helped, so every time I had chemo after that they gave me benadryl first. After my radiation and chemo treatments were done they gave me immunotherapy for 1 year which helped to rebuild my immune system back up from the chemo and radiation. I would ask for a second opinion and not just give up
