Thyroid biopsy

Who knew a simple thyroid biopsy; done by a radiologist and a nurse could be so miserable the day after....can’t hardly move my neck...swallowing is painful and I’m swollen like a deer tick. I didn’t realize how much poking and digging they have to do to get the cells, blood and tissue they need. Fingers crossed the two they took samples from are benign. Hopefully I will get some answers about this and the breast implants before I have to have the next biopsy on the list....the lacrimal gland 🙄🙄. That’s behind the eye and I’m not looking forward to that one. I can hardly put eye drops in and I’m gonna have to sit there while they cut through my eyelid? I miss the old days when they knocked you out for everything...

Yikes, yhat does not sound pleasant at all. I actually have a tiny thyroid nodule that they've been watching. I'm due for my next chest CT scan in a couple weeks and I wonder if we'll be able to see any change on that, that's how we first even knew I had it because it showed up on my last CT scan. I've been wondering if I should pursue having an ultrasound and biopsy. I've been extremely fatigued and wonder if this could somehow play into it. I'm already hypothyroidy and on Levothyroxine for a couple of years and it's not helping at all with the fatigue which basically started when I was first on opdivo and has never stopped even though I've been off it for over 2 years.

I'm seeing my PCP this week for continued horrible bilateral leg pain and hoping to talk to him about this as well.

I truly hope your biopsy is benign and that you'll find more answers to all this problems you've been going through glad to know that you figured out the breast implant illness and hope you feel better soon.

That’s how my first nodule was discovered...during a routine CT scan. Then my ortho ordered a cervical mri and the radiologist noted 2 nodules. He orders and ultrasound and there they found a dozen of them. All small except for two that are quite big. Those are the ones they biopsied. Hopefully they will be benign and hopefully you don’t have any more problems with yours either. Can we ALL get a break already? I think bad health luck should be reserved strictly for child molesters and serial killers lol. This way they’d be punished and the rest of us would be healthy 😊😊

Oh, my! Can they give you some kind of happy pill before that biopsy? I wish you didn’t have to go through this but I’m looking forward to reading about your experience.

Yikes! I cannot imagine not being put out while they do the biopsy. You may be able to ask to be put out and get it, even if it isn't standard of care. I certainly would ask!! At the least, they could do conscious sedation - you're "awake" but have no real clue about what is going on. They used it on me every time I went to the dentist and it is great!

The nodules on my thyroid were found by doing ultrasound, endo doctor decided that it was best to get rid of the thyroid instead of waiting to see if it went to cancer, I was given a nuclear pill waited a few hours and then had special tests done to make sure the pill had gone it was suppose to and done what is should. I only have very little thyroid left, do take synthroid daily. I had no pain or discomfort at all.

I hope your neck is feeling a little bit better today.

I would not be able to have the eyes done unless I was sedated. Hopefully they opt to remove the breast implants before putting you though any further biopsies.

Hope you are feeling better today. Always ask for medication to help relax you before a procedure. Many doctors will not prescribe and you need to obtain beforehand from your primary care provider or oncologists. One of your long time providers should be able to write something for you before your next biopsy. Thinking of you! Kim
